Precious Children Program

Step by Step program is a German fund based program. It was organized by Ida Gasner and JosefGasner. It was run by Visitation congregation till 2017.Now it is handover to Alleppey Diocesan Charitable and Social Welfare Society. After that it was renamed as   ADS Precious Children Program.

Objectives: One of the major objectives of the Precious children program scholarship initiatives is to provide financial support for the brilliant students from financially backward families.

Financial Process:  Program Extension: Initially started in Alappuzha, now extended to Ernakulum District. Providing financial assistance to 537 students. A joint account is opened in the name of the child and the ADS Director. Grant Amount: A significant amount has been granted for this financial year. The granted amount will be equally distributed among all beneficiaries. Rs. 2500 is withdrawn from each beneficiary’s account in a year. Rs. 500 is deducted for administrative purposes. Rs .2000 is provided as a scholarship for education.  Completion of Studies or Marriage: When the child completes their studies or gets married, they can withdraw the entire amount. Beneficiaries can close their accounts after withdrawing the funds.

Annual  Activities

• Christmas Greetings: Every October, beneficiaries send Christmas greetings to program donors in Germany.
• Group Meeting and Letter Writing: A meeting is conducted for parents and children at the ADS Office to assist with letter writing.
• Letter and Photo Collection: Letters and photos are collected from beneficiaries and handed over to Sr. Kala’s office.

Additional  Activities

• Account Closing and Higher Education Aid: After beneficiaries turn 18 or get married, they receive account closing and higher education aid.
